Was the first commercial joint-stock bank of Vietnam established on 16 October 1987 before the promulgation of the Company Law and the Banking Ordinance with the initial chartered capital of VND650 million and the operation duration of 50 years.

 

During 30 year operation after its establishment, SAIGONBANK has increased its chartered capital from VND650 million to VND 3,080 billion throughout the following stages:

The initial chartered capital of VND650 million was composed of 13,000 equal shares, with the unit face value of VND50,000.

In 1990, share  was revaluated from VND50,000 to VND250,000 (growth of 500%) by the Board of Directors and the General Meeting of Shareholders. The chartered capital after revaluation reached VND3.25 billion.

In 1992, chartered capital reached VND9.25 billion due to the share purchases done by enterprises from diverse economic sectors.

In 1993, upon the approval of the State Bank of Vietnam Governor (Document No. 192/CV-NH5 dated 04 May 1993), SAIGONBANK augmented its chartered capital to VND50.54 billion.

As at 30 June 2012, SAIGONBANK has attained correspondent relationship with 641 banks and branches situated in 75 countries and territories worldwide. SAIGONBANK has also become a principal acquiring member of Visa International, MasterCard, JCB cards, CUP and an agent of MoneyGram money transfer.
